The SNAG Lifetime Achievement Award Committee has selected Jamie Bennett, Professor Emeritus at the State University of New York, New Paltz, as the recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Johnathan Wahl, one of the many colleagues who nominated Bennett, wrote, “For over 50 years Bennett’s enamel work has pushed the boundaries of the material and the field, it is collected the world over in both private and public collections. As an educator he has shaped the careers of hundreds of jewelers and metalsmiths. He has guided some of his graduate students to become educators themselves with positions in the most prestigious colleges and universities both in the United States and abroad. From his studio practice to his role as a leading educator in the United States Jamie Bennett has proven a lifetime of achievement in the field of Jewelry and Metalsmithing.”
Most recently, Bennett was the recipient of the ‘Outstanding Educator’s Award’ (2015-2016), given by the James Renwick Alliance.
