SNAG x Providence was held June 1st-4th, 2022at the Rhode Island Convention Center in downtown Providence, RI.

We were so excited to gather in The Creative Capital for SNAG’s 50th Annual Conference, centered around the theme Hope & Creativity. Not only is Providence one of the oldest cities in the US, but it has a rich history in jewelry manufacturing, accounting for one quarter of the nation’s production during its peak. Over the duration of the conference we had an incredible lineup of presenters who spoke to these histories and their influence on the present. We explored the exciting and invigorating ways regional contemporary jewelers and metalsmiths recognize the past to create hope and innovation for the future. We hope SNAG x Providence attendees left with new creative inspiration and lifelong bonds of collaboration and friendship within the jewelry and metals community and beyond. #SNAGPVD

Land Acknowledgement

SNAG x Providence is convening on the homelands of the Narragansett Nation, who are the traditional owners and continuing stewards of the land and water. The Narragansett peoples are descendants of the aboriginal people of the State of Rhode Island. SNAG acknowledges the painful history of colonization endured by the Narragansett peoples who suffered genocide, were sold into slavery, and forcibly removed from their homelands. Today the Narragansett Indian Tribe is a vibrant Sovereign Nation that has been a Federally Recognized Tribe of the Federal Government since 1983. They continue to pass down their traditional culture, ceremonies and language from generation to generation. SNAG honors and respects the many diverse Indigenous Peoples both past, present and yet to come, who are connected to the land we are gathered on.

Conference Program

I always feel the SNAG Conferences are a great investment in myself and my career as a maker, artist, and educator. Love seeing old friends, peers, current and former students, and meeting new and emerging artists.

The conference helps me in my development as an artist and metalsmith. It is very important to build community, make networks, new friends and learn about other artists and about the trade. Inspirational.

Besides being a fun time, the conference is an invaluable source for networking and inspiration. Plus I got amazing tool discounts in the vendor room!
