This nine-month residency provides one emerging metalsmithing artist with studio space, time, and facilities to pursue their artistic goals. Program includes 24/7 access to all of our studios: metalsmithing, woodworking, and ceramics. Residents are expected to work in their studios Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

The residency term begins in September 2024 and ends in May 2025.

Residents receive free housing and utilities, access to shared kitchen and laundry facilities, and a personal workspace in their primary studio. They are compensated for teaching community classes, and receive 70% on sales or commissions of their work through Pocosin’s gallery. Employment assisting staff with various campus duties is offered based on Pocosin’s needs.

Teaching Requirement: Pocosin requires residents to teach weekly community classes for children and adults. Residents are compensated for teaching.

Selection is based on the quality of work, a desire to teach, and clear articulation of goals.
