The Hollowware Silversmith will focus on safety, accuracy, quality, & production during the forming & fabrication of sterling silver trophies, statement pieces & retail items. Responsible for utilization of manual hollowware shaping tools, silver soldering & metal forming of various metals.
Interpreting blueprints & fabricating items based on the designs & tolerances set forth in the production artwork to meet company QA standards within prescribed timelines. A focus on detail, in-process QA & limiting inventory failure is necessary while working on a wide size range of products where complex fitting, machining & soldering are required. Utilize multiple torch sizes and types from gas flux pin torches to large-scale soldering and annealing torches.
Apply correct sequences of silver solder from high temp 800 to lower temp 560 to the lowest temp tin/silver solder. A complete understanding of the use of solder stops out, files, burs, sanding belts & scotch stones are required to perform all levels of solder cleanup & over-run prevention. responsible for the cleanup & fitting of the cast, die struck, machined, spun & hand fabricated components. Comprehension of annealing temperatures of gold, sterling silver, brass, bronze, copper & ferrous metals required. Hand form spouts handle & other hollow components with the use of the hydraulic press, wooden dies, hammers & stakes. Hand hallmark wide variety of items etc
