Instructor of Jewelry for two 2.5 hour classes: Thursday 4-6:30 pm, Saturday 10 am-12:30 pm. Student mentorship & program outreach: 3 hours/week.
Job Responsibilities Include:
•Teach both Teen Gems Beginner Jewelry Classes, which covers the fundamentals of jewelry, sawing, filing, forming polishing, soldering, basic fabrication including Bezel settings in sheet metal & wire.
•Three additional weekly hours of student mentorship of 24 students.
•Track attendance & individual student needs.
•Coordinate with Jewelry Center Director on student applications & oversee application process.
•Coordinate with the Department of Education on possible student internships.
•Program outreach to relevant NYC public school administrations to promote Teen Gems program.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired:
•BFA or the professional equivalent & experience.
•Minimum of 1 year teaching jewelry courses.
•Strong communication & instruction/education skills.
Per Diem Compensation: $75/hr.
