Online Workshop: LINES, MARKS & STITCHES IN ENAMEL with JAN SMITH
October 8 & 15, 2022 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. ET
Explore the use of liquid porcelain enamel to create a myriad of marks, lines, and stitches in and on the metal substrate and the enamel surface.
We will investigate techniques that allow us to alter and texture the surface of the metal by chasing, drilling, piercing, sewing with wire, and roll printing. Students will explore various methods of applying and removing enamel including stoning, etching, embedding, and removing materials. You will research how the enamel and the substrate are affected by different firing methods. We will look at samples provided by the instructor and discuss the possibilities of the techniques.
