June 24 & July 1st, 2022
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET
Artists often have a conflicted relationship with the written word. We think our art should speak for itself. But, regardless of where you are in your artistic path, every artist needs to write. And writing about our work often makes us better artists.
Not every artist statement looks the same, and there is no one way to write about your work. Through a series of readings and writing exercises, students will be introduced to a variety of writing styles and ways to approach the artist statement. Students will have the opportunity to write about their own work and then workshop it in the class.
