History shows us that a chatelaine was used for women to hold their keys or tools which were important to their everyday life. The chatelaine I created holds the tools for women’s health. This piece is part of my protest in my BFA artist statement about women’s rights and bodily autonomy. Each flower/plant is either important for attracting bees (who I consider a fertility figure and are used as messengers from life to death) or for the historical herbal use for abortions.
