I make jewelry from materials others thought had no value. Upcycled silverplate trays are a different animal than most metals used by jewelers, and it is sometimes difficult to work with. Traditional soldering techniques don’t work with this metal, the torch will distress and brutalize the silverplate so it is no longer recognized as what it started as. This tray is brass plated with a form of silver, I don’t know what the metal will do once I put the torch on.
Materials: The silverplate tray shown, brass tubes, and brass ball chain.
