Nestleate explores the interdependence between humans and the biological world around us. Shell forms and larval imagery combine to become physical manifestations of acceptance of mortality: of a human lifetime, or perhaps of all ecological systems. By using the body as the “site” of the artwork, the meaning becomes more fully realized. The wearer becomes part of the piece and can spark fleeting moments of interaction with those around them. Open up or close down. Inside out or outside in.
