Rising Tide

Artist bio: Perhaps silversmithing is in my genes. My earliest silversmith experience came from my great-uncle, Augustus Rose, a prominent Arts and Crafts artist and educator, as well as his daughter. Some of my favorite tools are those that I inherited from them. My training has come from the Evanston Arts Center and specialized workshops. My studios are at Coreys on Stony Creek Ponds in the Adirondacks and in Evanston, IL.

The natural world is my starting point, and I am now working in the Adirondacks. I watch the motion of the waves at the beach, the swaying grasses in the river, the connection between the tree trunk and its branches. It is the relationships among the shapes, colors, and lines that build up the image or the structure. My art explores the effects of context (e.g., changes over time and place) among the different elements in a piece.

My work has been included in art publications and juried shows in Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Plattsburgh NY, Chicago and Evanston
