Jim Cotter

I started going to the Noguchi Museum about a decade ago when it was first built. There is satisfaction in seeing a celebrated stone carver have such an impact. It was in 1964 that I first incorporated rocks into my jewelry. I respect nature and merely join to nature my personal touch while also challenging common notions of value, preciousness, and jewelry. I have always found rocks to be a challenging material to work with; one cannot erase mistakes left by the mark of the maker.

Materials: Garden Rock, Sterling Chain

Dimensions: 2 x 3/4 x 1/8 inches
