Artist bio: Lauren DelBrocco, a Rhode Island based traditional metalsmith, specializes in hollowware, jewelry, and mechanisms. She holds a B.F.A. in Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design from Rhode Island College and an M.F.A. in Metal Design from East Carolina University. Her work is complex in design, layered with moving parts, and uses various fabrication and finishing processes. She thinks of her art as conversation display pieces, a representation of recognizable forms with an invitation to explore and become curious. She recently completed a collection of sensory-provoking cooking and serving tools that have inspired her contemporary jewelry collection. She is currently working on a collaborative necklace with Chris Zidek for Plan B; a traveling metals show raising money for Planned Parenthood, and is part of a U.S. coalition of Metalsmiths working with 4BySix; a group in London raising money for disadvantaged and homeless people by transforming decommissioned London bus panels into art.
