The “Superbloom” earrings came together when I played with adding a rosarita stone to a simple swirl earring. Rosarita is a joyful burst of red that reminded me of Death Valley on a day when a kaleidoscopic superbloom resulted from winter rains. Stones hold stories.
Rosarita is a byproduct of gold refining. I think about old tales of lone prospectors gone west to seek their fortunes. They never realized the red slag they left behind would be a treasure for today’s rockhounds.
