Artist bio: Originally from California, Darci Shea Bogdan grew up on a sailboat and sailed from the west to the east coast of the United States. After earning a degree in Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2010 Darci Shea moved to NYC to pursue an art career. Instead of becoming an artist, she became licensed boat captain and sailing instructor while illustrating imagery inspired by nautical themes. In 2013 Darci moved back to California and began apprenticing under cloisonné enamellist Merry-Lee Rae in 2015. Now Darci Shea, of Darci Shea Studios, creates handmade cloisonne jewelry and accessories made from precious metals, gemstones and glass enamel. Darci continues to create works of art that are inspired by her travels, passion or nature and storytelling. A percentage of the proceeds of her pieces are donated to a number of California based charities in order to promote awareness, social support and conservation, Cloisonné for a Cause.
