DEMONSTRATIONS

Erica Moody: A Spoon Within Reach (Blaney Lodge)
Erica Moody will offer a 45 minute demonstration forging a one piece brass spoon, with several minutes for intro and q&a. This will be taught using generally accessible materials so as not to need a full blacksmithing or metalsmithing studio. This accessibility is to encourage introduction/experimentation in metal craft outside of its traditional place, whether that be one’s usual scale of metal craft (bigger or smaller), for travel, and to share the possibilities to a wider audience.

Rachel Kedinger: Enamel on Steel (Metals & Jewelry Studio)
In this demonstration Rachel will go over forming and shaping steel sheet metal and applying an enameled surface using various techniques with torches and kilns. Attendees will learn about how steel sheet moves using hammers and stakes and move into applying liquid enamel and sifting enamel. Rachel will display samples for attendees to handle and ask questions.

Peter Braspenninx + Rachel David: It’s Gonna Be Hot! (Hart Moore Blacksmithing Studio)
You’re in for a treat! This joint demonstration is a secret, so you’ll just have to be there to find out! Pete & Rachel will work in back and forth responsive process to create a collaborative piece.
