Jean Radakovich + Rose Pfanner | Forging Love – The Art and Romance of Ruth and Svetozar Radakovich
Jean, daughter, and Rose, filmmaker tell the story of Svetozar and Ruth Radakovich’s forbidden romance and successful art career. How art brought them together, reunited them after a tragic Iron Curtain separation and connected them to the MidCentury art communities in the US where they settled. Jean will narrate their story accompanied by slides. Rose will talk about the art of filmmaking and why we chose a documentary to preserve their legacy. We will show the film trailer then conclude.

Jo Lauria | Jewelry Trendsetting: The California Design Exhibitions, 1960s – 1970s
From the 1960s through the 1970s, California’s fabled funky, fashion-forward style incurred a design revolution. This revolution is chronicled in the legendary exhibition series of California Design held primarily at the former Pasadena Art Museum. This presentation will highlight the jewelry shown in the exhibitions from 1965 through 1976. Trendsetting and visionary, these exhibitions helped define and celebrate the eclectic jewelry produced in California during those critical decades.
