Bryan Ponce

My name is Bryan Ponce, born in El Paso, Texas, currently a student at the University of Texas at El Paso graduating in December 2023. My major is in Graphic design and my minor is in Metals. My art is often influenced by technology, and that branches out to entertainment at times. Due to this, I make conceptual pieces often related to rising topics in technology and use the body to convey that message. I’m still in the experimental stage of my art trying different approaches.

Conceptual Statement: I wanted my piece to be a token of remembrance for future generations, it represents a phone and charger with glass apps hinting towards our age of glass. In other words, a phone is an important device of our age, we carry it as a part of ourselves. It is our connection to the knowledge of the world. We often find ourselves charging our connection to this fountain of information and entertainment. Important enough to be remembered and always at ear distance.
