Hailey Angione

Hailey Angione is a jeweler who works in metal, ceramic and leather. She has a love of history and has two separate book collections: antique and fantasy. Hailey’s interest in books has made her fascinated by the concept of a story held in the physical bounds of an object. She draws inspiration from the ancient world and its artifacts and is intrigued by animal symbology and their presence in decorative arts as well as folk lore. Angione’s jewelry may seem eclectic when viewed separately but when worn together they resonate and tell a different story with each new combination. In 2019, Hailey received a dual BFA in Jewelry/Metalsmithing and Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Hailey’s studio is located at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford.

Duality Owl

Date of Creation: August 3, 2022

List of Materials: Sterling Silver, Cubic Zirconia

Dimensions: .5inx1inx.5in

Photographer's Name: Julian Bracero

Conceptual Statement: Julian and I worked together with the intention of playing with light, props and depth of field to create a scene that portrayed the tone and emotion of my jewelry. We collaborated in curating the composition of each shot. I brought my jewelry work, props including books from my antique book collection, and a vision for the tone of the shoot. Julian is an amazing and creative photographer and provided expertise in lighting, framing and all things photography. In these images we created an atmospheric space that embodies the inspiration of my work. A cozy, ethereal, mysterious space, filled with books, diffused light, and incense smoke.

Conceptual Statement: Julian and I worked together with the intention of playing with light, props and depth of field to create a scene that portrayed the tone and emotion of my jewelry. In these images we created an atmospheric space that embodies the inspiration of my work. A cozy, ethereal, mysterious space, filled with books, diffused light, and incense smoke. In a few of the images such as “Picking the Day's Ensemble” and “Earring Archive”, we thought about telling a snippet of a story, of this collection of jewelry and of their owner selecting what to wear. Instead of thinking of a piece of jewelry on its own as an object we were thinking of the overall self expression through the use of multiple pieces of jewelry.
