Hold It

Artist Statement: Coming from a painting background, I turned to jewelry for its close connection with the body and intimacy with the wearer. My works revolve around how subcultures reflect the inner psychological realm. The dynamics between people and their possessions fascinate me. Contemplating on my private activities, I started an investigation into the relationships between dolls and their keepers, the desires for companionship and control. I am interested in how jewelry, as a wearable device, can help interpret intangible feelings and better express emotions. As well as enabling others who do not participate in certain activities to have similar experiences. The works echo both the original objects they are referencing and the wearer.
