Artist Statement: I’ve been thinking a lot about adornment and appearance and the expectations of spectacle placed on certain bodies to perform and the desire to sometimes just be left alone to live and love as we want looking the way we want. Looking the way we want for self love and pleasure and not to put on a show for others. The form references the dead animals found in still life painting, a symbol of wealth and opulence at the cost of another life. It asks questions on performative acceptance and the cost of the bodies being used for display but are still not allowed to live as they wish.
