Artist Statement: My body of work incorporates beadwork, which I learned from my Athabascan mother using the appliqué method. The beads I use are a combination of vintage Czech glass beads, micro beads and contemporary beads. Extensive research on Athabascan beadwork history is reflected in my style, color and form. I also incorporate metal smithing techniques such as bolo ties tips and broach pin backs, to create one of a kind pieces. My current body of work addresses my Indigenous experiences with issues such as racism and blood quantum.
