Conceptual Statement: This body necklace was inspired by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s character Ellida from his play ‘Lady from the Sea’. Ellida is a woman caught between her love of a man from the sea and her life on land married to another. This is the classic plight of the mythical mermaid so I had the piece styled on the model to echo the sculpture of the “Little Mermaid” in Copenhagen, Denmark.
