Conceptual Statement: Evidence of control and impulse emerges through repetition. Repeat a mark, repeat a form, repeat an idea in ten different ways, repeat, repeat, repeat. When does repetition, an attempt to assert control, become automatic, and is in turn, no longer controllable? Systems of order that are natural and systems of order which are imposed converge. The grid is a system. It is control, it is a frame, it is protector, it is a barrier, it is limitation, it is stability. Perhaps, the grid and the tree are more similar at second glance. The work is an invitation into the realm of the haptic. It welcomes chance and awe. It circles around balance, but seldom arrives.
