Artist Statement: My background of having completed my BS in Industrial Design and continuing my studies in metalsmithing has led me to make work combining both of these interests in functional work that also speaks to the one of the kind. Metalsmithing specifically has given me the opportunity to physically create bespoke pieces with a deeper meaning that facilitate meaningful interactions between the maker and the user. The teapots reference old Industrial Design and its influence on mass car design in earlier years, while the Dixie cup holders utilize a mass produced object and metalsmithing to elevate an everyday object.
