Young Jun Kim

Young Jun Kim is a Korean artist who is currently studying
jewelry arts at Pratt Institute. His passion lies in creating
wearable works of art that reflect his personal experiences
and journey. While attending military school in Virginia, he
discovered a love for sculpture after creating his first wooden
chessboard. His artistic style is characterized by simplicity
and geometric shapes, influenced by his appreciation for
architecture and buildings. The importance of structure and
symmetry, which he learned in different military systems,
also inspired his designs. Kim’s creative process is heavily
influenced by his travels to different countries and his
immersion in diverse cultures. He primarily works with silver,
drawn to its unique combination of hardness and softness,
and is committed to hand fabrication. His jewelry designs are
a visual representation of his journey and experiences, crafted
with a passion for symmetry and order.
