“Birds Without Feathers” pendant is created on a cold rolled steel base, with blue and purple hues from heat patina and metallic accents from fused fine silver and placer gold. Copper electroformed butterfly wings and a copper bird skull are riveted to the base with fine silver rivets. Dichroic glass gems and glass capped murrina eyes decorate the copper bird skull and dichroic glass gems decorate the butterfly wings. Eye cane slices used in this piece were created by Mathieu Grodet, 2023. The azurite and malachite stone is set onto the pendant using steel prongs. To complement the colors, the pendant is strung with Old World Bronze beads and clasp, hollow copper beads, center-drilled potato chip freshwater pearls, turquoise nuggets and small azurite heishi beads. This piece weighs 4.6 ounces.

Bio
The science of art continues to inspire my glass and metal art pieces. I delight in understanding scientific processes of glass, organic elements, metal, and electricity. My work embraces science; while my palette, form, and design embrace an intersection of the phenomena of the natural world with fantasy that challenges boundaries of reality.
