Ximena’s current studio practice investigates landscape and topography as an expression of location and identity. Bush Baroque is the personal re-interpretation of Canberra’s landscape through a baroque lens, surrounded by centuries-old eucalyptus trees. In this body of work, Ximena returns to the Eucalyptus leaves that started her Australian practice 18 years ago. Reflecting on the beauty, the terror and the inspiration found in the landscape.

Based in Canberra since 2004, She continues to make, research and to collaborate with other artisans producing small batch series of objects works creating a transpacific connection. Her current works explore diverse materials, the power and meaning of colour.
