I am haunted by the scream of the pin “back”. Brooches have always been a very common format of jewelry for me in my study of jewelry, and every time I am drawn to the superb pinback on the back. This collection of work raises the discussion of highlighting the mere functional pinback which was commonly ignored. By putting the pinbacks at the center of the stage, the works are made to discuss the balance between function and ornamentation of the pinbacks. As a jeweler and contemporary jewelry artist, the process of reinvestigation in pinback serves as a starting point for me to pay attention to details that are often ignored. Elements including pendant chain, ring band, and stone set become the next pinback that reactivate the dialogue, pushing the boundaries of those predefined normalities to a higher level and realizing the universe of possibilities and varieties of these ignored components.
