Morning/Mourning was begun in the second year of the COVID pandemic when I fully realized I would not be traveling to show my work in the near future. It’s made with aluminum Nespresso® coffee capsules, polymer clay and wood. What I did have was extended time in my studio and decided to undertake this very labor intensive project. I’d drink my morning coffee and then go into my studio to both delight in the process of creating without restrictions but also to mourn all that was lost during this time.
