Shells are homes: places of refuge. They have been used for jewellery-making for at least 150,000 years. My Conchology project takes inspiration from prehistoric jewellery models to explore the contemporary concept of home, displacement, and the importance of safe havens.

Bio
Carolyn Young is a Canadian jewellery artist who has graduate degrees in Art History from the University of Toronto, studied jewellery and metal smithing in Montréal, and held a Maker Residency at the Canadian Craft Biennial in 2017. Her work has been exhibited in juried and curated national and international exhibitions.
