Influenced by nature and indigenous spirituality, my work explores the act of preservation in an often desperate attempt to safeguard and pause the natural cycle of time. By treating found natural elements with reverence, my intention is to restore a sense of significance and permanence. The result of which is an object that elegantly exalts the ephemera while preserving memory and preventing loss. An object which exists as both memorial and momento mori. An object of adornment which demands of the bearer mindfulness of its presence and fragility.

A maker/metalsmith in Murray, Kentucky, Jo Bennett is a queer and indigenous artist specialising in precious metal and wooden jewelry and sculpture.
