My work is an eccentric alliance of material and content where pictorial imagery meets fabricated metal forms. My preferred materials are non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, pigments, various art media, and other alternative materials.
Combining my passion for the jewelry fabrication process and my obsession with all things picturesque, I attempt to transform two-dimensional pictorial space into sculptural jewelry forms.
Recently my focus has been on rendering the visual imagery I encounter in the natural environment around me. In the mixed-media jewelry pieces that make up the Native Species Series, I’ve created miniature black and white drawings on metal panels that are attached to wire frameworks. They are my stylized interpretations of the salt grass, rattlesnakes and butterflies of the southwest coastal area I live in.
