The work in my “STITCHES” series is inspired by my mother. A consummate seamstress, she made all my clothes from Vogue designer patterns as I was growing up. The elements of the piece are meant to suggest corduroy and polka dot silk stitched together with thread. The metal is bronze.

I approach jewelry as wearable art. I work in series and create designs that are idea driven. Years of sewing and carpentry have influenced my approach to metal. I seek ways to disrupt the shininess and preciousness of metal and give it texture or color, and I often join elements together with rivets, tabs or wire “thread”.
