Some of the first pieces we studied in Art History (1971) were the Cycladic sculptures from islands in the Aegean Sea, created between 3300 to 1100 BCE. I’ve always been intrigued by those faces with nothing more than a nose-like protrusion for definition. This brooch showcases my interpretation of those faces.

Bio
I'm a metalsmith/educator now entering my 7th decade of making sculpture, jewelry and Judaica. My work can be seen at Laurie Donovan Designs in Lenox, MA and on my website and Instagram. I have always made and have been fascinated by miniatures, which require an intimate relationship with the viewer.
