This ring was inspired by the 18th century European tradition of Lover’s Eye jewelry, in which the eye of one’s lover was replicated with miniature painting and then set into a piece such as brooch or ring- often ornamented with borders of gemstones. This particular ring depicts the eye of my girlfriend, Vale, in a field of clouds with a small crescent moon, referencing the poem “You” by Carol Ann Duffy. The gemstones were carefully selected to match the color palette of the enamel painting.
